The Ryobi ONE+ 3″ 18V variable-speed detail polisher and sander looks like another first for the Home Depot-exclusive brand. This tool fills a gap in the Ryobi line of automotive detailing solutions. It also nicely complements their existing line of cordless polishers. This compact 3″ polisher/sander takes care of detail work in smaller and tighter spaces that your 5″ and 6″ buffers can’t tackle as easily.
The most interesting aspect of this Ryobi PBF102B polisher revolves around the size. Where the PBF100B 5″ Dual Action Polisher seems well-equipped to knock out bigger panels quickly, the Ryobi 18V detail polisher seems geared more toward smaller, more detail-oriented spot work. This looks like a great option when it comes to buffing out smaller imperfections or for feathering into tighter spots when using it as a small rotary sander.
And, of course, its size makes for a potentially excellent and ergonomic headlight polisher.
Speaking of sanding and buffing, this tool fulfills dual functions. It features a 2-speed switch that lets you optimize the tool for the task at hand. For polishing and buffing applications, the low speed gives you up to 2,800 rpm. For sanding work, you can set the Ryobi PBF102B to its higher speed, where it produces up to 7,800 rpm. Of course, a variable speed trigger lets you take control even further.
The Ryobi PBF102B 18V ONE+ 3″ Variable Speed Detail Polisher/Sander hits shelves August 2021 at your local Home Depot. You can buy it for $129 as a bare tool. It comes with a 3″ pad for polishing, a 3″ foam finishing pad, a 3″ foam correcting pad, a 3″ wool pad, a 2″ backer pad for sanding, a 2″ 60-grit disc, a 2″ 80-grit disc, a 2″ 120-grit disc, and an auxiliary handle. Ryobi warranties their product for 3 years.
