When Prosperous Voyage got the better of 1-7 favourite Inspiral in Friday’s Falmouth Stakes it caused a ripple of shock around racing and a wave of euphoria in the camp of Ten To Follow contender Anglegrinder as it lifted that team to top spot on the leaderboard.

Not just top spot either, as three of Anglegrinder’s squads share the top berth, with three more in the leading ten.

Anglegrinder was among 1.4 per cent of stables to have included Prosperous Voyage in their entries for the competition and the Falmouth victory produced 49.50 points for those teams.

Naval Crown is another key player in the Anglegrinder teams and he almost brought off another Group 1 success in the July Cup when finishing second to Alcohol Free. He still contributed 14 points to his tally, which now stands at 130.40 points, almost 40 points clear of Vadeni in second place.

Despite her previous Group 1 exploits, just 2.7 per cent of stables benefited from Alcohol Free’s return to the winner’s enclosure in the July Cup. The filly picked up 70.10 points for her followers and moves into third place in the leading horse list as a result.

Godolphin were among the winners at Newmarket, with Mawj going one better than her run in the Albany Stakes to land the Duchess of Cambridge. That added 27.20 points to her total for the 0.4 per cent of stables who had her on board.

Yibir, picked by 2.7 per cent of stables, landed the Princess of Wales’s Stakes to earn 23.68 points for backers.

Chindit also improved on his Royal Ascot showing. Dropped into the Group 2 Summer Mile at Ascot after a couple of promising runs behind Baaeed in Group 1 company, he rewarded 0.8 per cent of stables with 24.63 points.

There were also notable points-scoring victories for Persian Force (22.60 points) in the July Stakes, Garrus (22.30) in the Prix de Ris-Orangis at Deauville and Flotus (19.65) who landed the Summer Stakes at York.

And to complete a memorable few days for the Anglegrinder team, the Aidan O’Brien-trained Stone Age finished a narrowly beaten third to Classic Causeway and Nations Pride in the Belmont Derby to pick up 1.40 points.
