Gold standard lock aimed at cargo bikes and electric bicycles | ETA

E-Bikes and cargo bikes tend to be more expensive to buy but their size means they can be tricky to lock. The Hiplok E-DX is a chain and D-Lock combination designed to protect over-sized frames and larger bicycles.

The E-DX isn’t to be confused with the D-lock and flimsy cable combinations sold by many lock companies as 10 mm hardened steel chain is rated Gold Standard by Sold Secure.

The loop-end design offers a 1m locking length and while it weighs a hefty 3.5kg, this isn’t as much of a factor for cargo and power-assisted bikes.

We have a Hiplok E-DX lock worth £130 to give away. To be in with a chance of winning, simply leave us a message at the bottom of the page and we’ll pick a name next week.

Cycle Rescue costs just £24 per year with no hidden extras to pay if your bicycle or cargo bike suffers a breakdown – or included free when you buy cycle insurance with us.

If you suffer a breakdown  (including punctures) while out cycling, or are unable to continue due to an injury, our 24-hour Cycle Rescue team is on hand to arrange transport for you and your cycle to a safe location.

Breaking down while carrying cargo or kids can be troublesome

Loving the look of the hiplok e, I think this would be ideal for leaving at my place of work, to lock my bike up rather than use a standard D lock.

Would also be handy to use in my own garage to protect all three bikes in our household. (As mentioned a bit bulky for carrying around to/from work as it weighs more than a quarter of my bike).

Lower end locks are too easy to break for a determined thief, so this looks perfect for my best bike.

A wonderful piece of security!

It’s the want of a convincing solution like this which is precisely what stops me from using my e-bike as more than just a toy.

Looks like an excellent lock and would help our family bike security at home.

Having just purchased an Orbea ebike this lock would be ideal for me !

Is it baby creche proof. Now that’s the ultimate test!

The stronger the lock the better it is

I’d love this. Left two good locks outside my old workplace and my employer moved out during Covid and they knocked the place down!!

This would be great for my e-hybrid.

Just what I need for my new e-bike

Winning the lock would make me feel safe and secure in the knowledge that my bike will be there for my return journey Thank you for considering me

This would be great for my bike, struggle finding spaces where I can lock mine as it’s an Xl frame, so quite a long bike, normal places are just to far away from the bike it’s impossible for me to lock the frame up.

OoOOoooOoo perfect for locking up my EBike at the hospital I work in 😀

Gold standard sounds right, my electric bike is gold to me. This would be a big improvement on the lock I have.

Every good bike deserves a good lock.

I would feel my bike was safe being left with this Hiplok E-DX on

That’s really good thinking – understanding the growing demand for more e-bikes.

It’s important that both elements of the locking system are gold rated – you’re only as protected as the weakest link.

I managed to lose my Gold Standard HipLok a couple of months ago. How I’d love to be lucky enough to win this! Fingers crossed…..

I have my doubts if this could survive an attack by a cordless angle grinder, so is there any point making it able to survive levers and bolt cutters etc.

My friends are always winding me up about the weight of tbings I put in my pannier bags! I reckon this would balance out a day’s water supply and packed lunch.

Perfect for the Colchester E-Cargo bike scheme

That’d be a great upgrade on my current garage security system 😊

Still using my ancient padlock and rusty chain as no wins on previous locking solutions 🙁 Lets hope this time is lucky for me 🙂

me please need for my mobility scooter

Why don’t you lock me up buttercup Thank you

Just what the bike insurance policy requires for an ebike

At last – a decent lock that will actually lock a Big Bike to something more substantial than a toothpick!

I don’t have an e-bike, so I’d use it one TWO of my mechanical steeds.

It would e a golden moment winning one of these.
