A convicted burglar from Birmingham is being hunted by police after breaching his conditions while out on licence from prison. Christopher Reilly from Erdington admitted burglary and attempted theft at Birmingham Crown Court in December 2020, after attempting to steal an Audi from a property in Selly Oak in August that year.

He was part of a gang who removed a window to get into the property and ransacked the home in the search for the keys to the car. They attempted to steal the car but were thwarted as it had a steering lock which they were unable to remove after even using an angle grinder. In their attempts to flee in a second Audi they hit a police car.

Reilly was linked to the offence following forensic examination of a hat found at the scene. Judge Dean Kershaw said Reilly had probably ‘ruined the rest of the life’ of his victim. He was then jailed for three years and two months but had been out on licence.

Now West Midlands Police are hunting the 35-year-old but have warned the public not to approach him. A wanted appeal from the force said: “Have you seen Christopher Reilly?

“The 35-year-old from Erdington, Birmingham who was jailed for burglary, is wanted on recall to prison after he breached the conditions of his licence. If you see him, please do not approach but contact us immediately.
