Lenasia South SAPS is investigating an inquest case following the death of a 20-year-old male in Hospital Hills on Monday, June 6, 2022. Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Khalipha Mvula, said, “It is alleged that the 20-year-old male was assisting his father to install a window frame in their residential place when the cutting disc of the angle grinder he was utilising broke, and one of the flying cutting disc pieces slit him in the throat leaving a gaping wound. He was immediately taken to Lenasia South Hospital, but he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries upon arrival in the hospital.” Sgt Mvula added, “The father also sustained a leg injury because of the flying shrapnel, and he received the necessary medical attention and was later discharged. An inquest docket is under investigation, and as police, we would like to urge the public to exercise caution when utilizing handheld electrical working tools as they are hazardous when not handled appropriately and not following safety precautions.
