Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

For those of you who got really excited about the DeWalt Flexvolt 60V Max Grinder, we’re about to blow your mind with more news: new DeWalt 20V Max Brushless Grinder models have been released.

A 4.5″ Angle Grinder and a 5″ Flathead Grinder join the mix of the company’s Perform & Protect line of tools. DeWalt specifically designed the new line to provide improved control and performance, while also cutting down on airborne dust and tool vibration. A 1-1/2″ Die Grinder also joins the growing line of DeWalt 20V Max cordless tools.

Available now from anywhere DeWalt tools are sold, the new 20V Max Grinders come with many of the features that made the 60V version great.

All of the new DeWalt 20V Max Brushless Grinder Models feature brushless motors that offer longer runtimes without ever requiring brush changes. I mean, they are brushless motors, after all.

They also feature DeWalt’s standard 3-Year Limited Warranty, a 1-Year free service contract, and a 90-Day money-back guarantee.

Both of these models feature a brake, an E-Clutch System, and a Kickback Brake. The brake brings the wheel to a full stop within two seconds or less after the user releases the trigger.  Next, when the grinder detects wheel pinching, the E-Clutch System automatically shuts down the motor. Finally, the Kickback Brake ties both of the latter features together for another level of safety. In the event of a pinch, the Kickback Brake engages at maximum force and shuts the tool down. This reduces the impact that the user feels.

These grinders also feature a One-Touch Guard that allows for single-action adjustments to the guard position. They come with two removable mesh screens that keep debris from entering the tool as well. Finally, both grinders feature an on/off trigger switch with a no-volt release function, which eliminates accidental turn-on. In the event of an unexpected shut-down, the user will need to cycle the trigger switch to restart.

In the case of the Flathead Grider, DeWalt has included a thin gear case to allow the user access to tighter spaces.

The DeWalt 1-1/2″ cordless Die Grinder features a 3-Speed Selector Switch. Users can choose between 0-10,000 RPM, 0-17,500 RPM, and 0-25,000RPM settings. The grinder includes a variable speed rocker switch that allows for speed control through the pressure you apply. The die grinder also features a 3 LED light ring to help light up the work surface during use.

We really like the DeWalt FlexVolt 60V Max Grinder. It has a solid build, feels nice in our hands, runs for a while on a charge, and most importantly, has more than enough power to get the job done. With all that in mind, we expect a similarly comfortable build from the new DeWalt 20V Max Brushless Grinder models. Of course, they’re going to be less powerful than the 60V line, but for lighter-duty work, they’re a pretty legit addition to the 20V Max line.
